The Care Workers’ Charity Partners with Runway Gallery Artists to Reach £1M Target During Global Covid-19 Virus Pandemic
Runway Gallery, founded and run by artist SYRETT, is taking action during the COVID-19 global pandemic by donating 25% of all online sales during the current coronavirus lockdown period in the UK to support The Care Workers’ Charity’s Emergency Crisis Grant Fundraiser target of £1 million.
All artists and their work on Runway Gallery’s website are taking part in this initiative including: Connor Brothers, Pandemonia, SYRETT, Bruce Atherton, Dara Vandor, Sue Dray, Grazie, Jean Luc Brouard, Corran Browlnee, Louise Dear, Simone Webb, Jeff Muhs, Sandro Hyams, Girls of the Internet, Belinda Frikh, Jake Mosher and Duma. Twenty-five percent of the sales will be donated to The Care Workers’ Charity’s JustGiving COVID-19 Emergency Crisis Grant Fund.
The Emergency Crisis Grant Fund is looking to raise £1million for care workers on the frontline of the COVID-19 crisis. Care workers include people who have been involved in residential social care, home care, supported living care or day care. If a care worker needs to self-isolate due to the coronavirus, they will fall into desperate need. For this reason, The Care Workers’ Charity needs more funds for extra emergency grants. Runway Gallery is looking to help them reach their £1 million target.
Karolina Gerlich, Executive Director of The Care Workers’ Charity comments: “We are really pleased that Runway Gallery is supporting care workers during these difficult times by donating a percentage of their sales to our Emergency Covid-19 Fund. Care workers are doing an amazing job despite facing many challenges on a daily basis and this brilliant initiative will help us protect care workers. Thank you”.
During this crisis, UK care homes are suffering, as the COVID-19 virus is most dangerous to the elderly and those with pre-existing health issues. Despite this, reports tell of insufficient support and personal protective equipment (PPE) in care homes across the country. While the NHS battles this virus in hospitals, the elderly population, and those providing them care, are being overlooked. The National Care Forum (NCF) estimates that more than 4,000 elderly and disabled people have died across all residential and nursing homes. Care workers looking after the most vulnerable are also at major risk.
Artist SYRETT, the founder of Runway Gallery, comments: “We wanted to do something tangible and immediate that could benefit Care Workers and we believe supporting The Care Workers’ Charity in their endeavours allows us to do a small part to alleviate some of the financial pressures charities are facing during these times”.
For the entire duration of the current Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, 25% of all online purchases at Runway Gallery will be donated to The Care Workers’ Charity’s JustGiving Emergency Crisis Grant Fundraiser. Please go to https://www.runway-gallery.com/
