Hannah is a Senior Support Worker for a company who provides both live in and home care. She’s been with them 3 years and is really happy to work for such a good company.
Sadly, in February of this year Hannah hurt her foot after falling downstairs. She needed two weeks of work to rest and recuperate.
“I’d just moved home and had spent most of my savings on essentials, like carpets, so having two weeks off work wasn’t great for my finances!”
After taking time off she was looking forward to getting back to work when she received devastating news.
“I’d just completed my first day back when I received a telephone call to say my Dad had passed away, it was such a shock.”
Hannah was then faced with not only grieving for her father, but also the realisation that she would have to pay towards the funeral and make the arrangements.
Luckily Hannah’s employers were supportive, and her colleagues were great. Hannah reached out to The Care Workers’ Charity for a grant towards the funeral costs.
“I applied online and sent some paperwork in and it took about a week for the money to arrive into my account. It was such a relief, it really took some of the anxiety away.”
Hannah wanted to do something to say thank you to The Care Workers’ Charity and to help others in need. That’s why she, and her colleague, are going to do a Charity Sky Dive on the 7th of June 2024.
“I know that my Dad would be very proud of me raising money for charity in his name.”
