We are proud to launch our 2024 Impact Report, showcasing a year of meaningful change driven by the generosity of our supporters and the resilience of care workers across the UK. This report is more than numbers—it’s a reflection of the lives changed, voices uplifted, and futures shaped through collective action.
In a challenging economic climate, our crisis grants and wellbeing services continued to be a vital safety net. This year, we supported 1,242 care workers with over £555,000 in grants—ensuring urgent needs were met with dignity and compassion. From daily living expenses to housing costs, our support was delivered where it mattered most.
Alongside financial aid, we championed mental wellbeing. Through our partnership with Red Umbrella, 56 care workers accessed free counselling and 50 undertook Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) training. These initiatives continue to grow in demand and impact, helping care workers better support both themselves and their colleagues.
2024 marked a powerful step forward for our campaigning work with the launch of the Care Workers’ Advisory Board and Champions Project. This pioneering initiative centres the lived experience of care workers in shaping the future of social care. Thirty frontline workers were recruited to influence policy and speak truth to power—with their insights already driving conversations across the sector.
We also contributed to high-level research on AI and ethics in social care with institutions including the University of Oxford, the LSE, and The King’s Fund. Our commitment to collaboration ensures that care workers’ perspectives are embedded in future reforms.
Our incredible supporters once again went above and beyond. From skydives and sponsored treks to industry fundraisers and the dazzling Care Sector Ball—where an amazing £80,000 was raised for our work—the spirit of solidarity has never been stronger. Together, corporate partners, individuals, and providers raised vital funds and awareness, helping us extend our reach.
Our sixth Professional Care Workers’ Week brought together 56 speakers from across the sector for powerful conversations about reform, recognition, and resilience. Meanwhile, the House of Lords Afternoon Tea celebrated our Champions Project launch, underscoring our growing voice in policy spaces.
As we prepare for 2025, our mission remains clear: to ensure care workers are valued, supported, and heard. With the cost-of-living crisis ongoing and workforce challenges persisting, the need for our work has never been greater.
We will expand our partnerships with local authorities and care providers, grow our grants programme, and continue amplifying care workers’ voices through advocacy and research.
