CWC Champion Training Launch
This month we began hosting our series of Champion training events, which have been kindly supported by Barclays. Our Champions are our volunteers, they are our eyes and ears in care communities across the UK acting as ambassadors, telling people about CWC and helping them to access our services. We are incredibly proud of our Champions and over the next year we will be focusing on providing them with additional training and support to help us maximise our impact in the care sector. Our Champions travelled far and wide to attend our training, coming from a range of care groups including; Grosvenor Health and Social Care, Stonehaven, Q1 Care, TLC Care, Belmont Healthcare, Hallmark Care Homes and Hartford Care.
Our sessions ranged from ‘Helping people to find and use our services’ and ‘How to run fundraising events and what events to hosts’. These sessions provided our Champions with the tools and knowledge to signpost colleagues to our grant services, make announcements in team meetings and host fundraising events in the near future.
One of our Champions said, ‘I learnt how the grant process works and who it can benefit’ while another said, ‘I came away with lots of ideas for events and the confidence to host one’. It was great to learn that 100% of our Champions said they knew more about the charity after completing the training and 91.7% saying they would be very likely to provide their colleagues with more information about the charity after attending the sessions. This feedback demonstrated we are on the right track to hitting our key objectives for 2018 because we are increasing awareness of CWC’s mission while simultaneously supporting individuals who are currently employed in the care sector.
As part of our investment in our Champions, we were excited to announce partnerships with both ACCTV and Perkbox. ACCTV will be providing online Champion training modules with their innovative platform, Bridge. Perkbox will be providing our Champions with ‘perks’ to thank them for their hard work and commitment, including discounts on high street brands and days out.
We will be hosting more of these events throughout the year with our next conference being hosted in Sheffield. If you are interested in attending this event please email – Rebecca@thecareworkerscharity.org.uk or if you’re interested in becoming a Champion find out more by clicking here.
