Jeffrey Long MBE ‘Walk for Carers’ saw the 88 year old visit care homes in the Bradford District to raise awareness of the heroic efforts of social care workers.
Jeffrey is an 88 year old veteran, who is a well-practiced fundraiser. His most recent fundraising escapade has been to raise money for The Care Workers’ Charity.
The challenge, named ‘Jeffrey’s Walk for Carers’, racked up over 100 miles whilst visiting ten care homes over nine days, all in aid of raising valuable funds for the Care Workers’ Charity.
Jeffrey has been taking part in charitable fundraising for many years, he had this to say about his latest fundraising challenge: “The Coronavirus pandemic has shone a light on the marvelous work that care workers are doing and I really wanted to show my support for them. Whilst walking I will raise awareness of The Care Workers’ Charity and raise some money so that care staff can be supported.
“Care workers are hugely undervalued and deserve more recognition for their heroic work. Every day, care workers make a huge difference to the lives of thousands of people across the country, providing them with the dignity and support they need to live happy and contented lives.
“Care Workers are at the frontline of the coronavirus crisis, caring for societys most vulnerable and most susceptible to the disease. If a care worker needs to self-isolate, they will fall into desperate need. Any help will go a long way.”
Jeffrey is very close to reaching his fundraising target of £2000. To help him hit his target you can still donate by visiting his Just Giving page HERE
