The Care Workers’ Charity Announces Launch of Care Workers Advisory Board at House of Lords Afternoon Tea Event

The Care Workers’ Charity is thrilled to announce the launch of its Care Workers Advisory Board and Care Worker Champions Project. Karoline Gerlich, CEO says “This groundbreaking initiative, generously funded by The Rayne Foundation as part of their Better Careers for Better Care programme, is dedicated to amplifying the voices of care workers across the UK and addressing critical policy issues that impact the care sector.

To celebrate this exciting launch, a special afternoon tea reception will be held at the House of Lords, hosted by Baroness Kay Andrews. This event will bring together key figures from across the care sector, policymakers, and frontline care workers to mark the beginning of a project set to drive significant change in the industry.

We are very grateful to The Rayne Foundation for their generous support. Their partnership has been instrumental in bringing this project to life, and we look forward to working together over the next two years, alongside other projects funded under the Better Careers for Better Care initiative. This is an ambitious project that will provide a vital platform for care workers to share their regional insights, enhance their skills, and ensure they are at the heart of policy discussions and decision-making. It will foster collaboration across the care sector, ensuring that both care workers and those who receive care are at the center of advocacy efforts.

We are extremely grateful to Baroness Kay Andrews for hosting this reception and to Eleo and Cornerstone for sponsoring the event. It marks the start of an exciting journey to improve the careers and lives of care workers across the UK, and The Care Workers’ Charity is honored to have the support of its partners and the care community as we embark on this ambitious project.

Eliot Maher, Managing Consultant at Eleo says “At Eleo, our passion lies in supporting and elevating the care sector to improve lives across the UK. As a social enterprise dedicated to transforming healthcare recruitment, we’re honoured to support the Care Workers’ Charity in the launch of this landmark initiative. The Care Workers’ Advisory Board represents a crucial step towards amplifying the voices of those at the heart of care delivery. By championing frontline care workers, we’re investing in better care outcomes, stronger communities, and policies that truly reflect the realities of the sector. Our support for this event aligns perfectly with Eleo’s mission to nurture a more compassionate and effective care landscape across the UK. Together, we’re not just acknowledging the vital role of care workers – we’re actively contributing to a future where their insights shape the core foundations of social care.”

Paul Hayes, Chief Executive at Cornerstone adds, “we are honoured to be supporting the launch of the Care Workers Advisory board and champions project during professional care workers week. As the Chief Executive of a care provider organisation, I am so proud of each and everyone of our professional care workers who make a positive difference to the lives of the people we are privileged to provide care for every day. I am also proud to say I started out at 16 years old as a carer working in a nursing home and throughout my career have always championed the role of the professional care worker to receive the recognition and reward that it truly deserves.

Our professional care workforce are the heartbeat of all of our organisations and it is a privilege to support the work of the Care Workers Charity and help to shine a light on all carers for the invaluable contribution they make to our society.”
