The Care Workers’ Charity: Workplace Advocacy
CWC’s Workforce Advocacy Programme promotes issues such as fairer pay, professionalisation and support for the workforce that promotes financial security and holistic wellbeing through public education, sector collaboration, and research/policy advising. CWC promotes care workers’ wellbeing and encourages recruitment and retention with the following activities:
- Government Advisory Roles: Contribute to policy documents and advise DHSC and the Care Quality Commission. We provide knowledge rooted in practical experience to inform high level analysis and guide sustainable national reforms.
- University and NGO Partnerships: We work with London School of Economics, University of Sheffield and Equality and Human Rights Commission’s social care research programmes to analyse structural strengths, weaknesses and needed reforms to meet the increasing complexity and volume of social care demand.
- Public Awareness Campaigns: Interviews in outlets like BBC and The Guardian elevate care workers’ contributions, challenges, and perspectives to build public pressure for better workforce treatment and valuation.
- Sector Partnerships and Events: Amplify care workers’ voices and connect all levels of sector power to increase collaboration and understanding.
The CWC’s Advocacy Programme seeks to achieve sustainable social care reform that ensures the workforce is appropriately valued and has the resources to thrive. We focus on issues such as sector pay, registration and reform, as well as contributing to wider discussions on the challenges faced by our beneficiaries, like poor access to low-cost housing, in work poverty and increased living costs. By widely promoting the skills and impact that the workforce holds, we will underscore how fair pay is both deserved and in society’s best interests.
